County-Wide Big Summer Bash Planned for June 25

Families across the county are invited to celebrate summer learning and creativity at the upcoming County-Wide Big Summer Bash on Wednesday, June 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Joe Sheldon Park, located in the back area near the newer cabins.

Designed for youth ages 3–18 years old, the event will feature a variety of hands-on educational and creative activities for participants to enjoy throughout the day. Children ages 5 and younger must attend with an adult.

Activities will include a special program with the Humboldt County Conservationist, a STEM activity where participants will create their own “launcher,” canvas painting, paper kite making, and seed planting activities. Lunch will also be served at the park during the event.

The County-Wide Big Summer Bash is part of the summer reading program celebration and is open to youth who are registered for their local Summer Reading Program. The Reading Program is for birth-adult, and has prize incentives for finishing—something for everyone!

Registration is required and must be completed by June 6 through your community library in order to have an accurate count for transportation. We also are asking that the kids wear play clothes and tennis shoes that can get dirty.

The event is partnering with the Humboldt Community School District to provide busing from participating community libraries for attendees who may not have transportation to the park.

For additional information or questions, please contact the Humboldt Public Library (515-332-1925) or your local county library.
